The Guild is a movement within the Church of Scotland which invites and encourages both women and men to commit their lives to Jesus Christ and enables them to express their faith in worship, prayer and action.
At Ness Bank the Guild meets from September - March every fortnight on a Tuesday evening at 7.30pm. We have a varied programme of speakers and activities, and the programme for 2016 will be released later this summer - watch this space.
The programme mixes the serious work of the Guild with a fun, social element, including an element of worship and guest speakers. Topics include entertaining and informative talks on wide ranging subjects directly or indirectly related to the wider work of the Church in its broadest sense. Recent examples include : ‘The Work of Blythswood’; ‘The Ebola Crisis’; and on a more social note there was a Quiz Night and there is an annual Christmas Lunch.
The Guild members lead a variety of successful fund raising activities and contribute to making a difference in local, regional and national initiatives.
Additionally, on alternate Tuesday afternoons, the Guild Work Party meets to knit garments for various charities and good causes.
We would really appreciate new members, and anyone wishing to come along will be made most welcome. Why not come along and try it out? Once finalised, the syllabus will be here on the website and it is of course posted on the Vestibule notice board. We look forward to seeing you.
